September 12, 2006 - ZTE Corporation, a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced that the total capacity of ZTE mobile Softswitch has exceeded 40 million lines worldwide.

With its R&D strength and extensive experience in communication networks, ZTE Corporation is today leading the way in bringing Chinese 3G equipment to the global marketplace.  It has followed its global market breakthrough by a rapid expansion, ensuring that its UMTS technology became recognised worldwide for its technical stability and commercial maturity.

Based on an all-IP unified hardware platform, ZTE UMTS V3 core network gear contains industry-leading features such as high integration and ultra capacity, and fully supports the smooth evolution of R99/R4/R5, enabling modular devices to be used in core and wireless networks in line with the global "Network IP" trend. This helps global operators to build profitable UMTS networks fast and effectively.

"ZTE can provide a comprehensive range of 3G products and solutions including UMTS, CDMA2000, TD?SCDMA and 3G handsets. UMTS is our most heavily invested 3G mode and we have UMTS networks in more than 10 countries, most of which are carrying significant users. In particular, the total capacity of ZTE 3G core networks has passed the 40 million mark, which more than meets the global demand for 3G commercial application on a large scale," said Ding Mingfeng, VP of ZTE.

The ZTE UMTS core network gear has achieved outstanding results in tests organised by several domestic operators; in particular, the products came on top in a recent domestic test in terms of maximum nominal capacity. With excellent performance indicators such as high system stability and clarity of voice in a hostile environment, ZTE devices have again proved that they fully meet operators requirements for the capacity and reliability of terminal equipment.

As cooperation among overseas communication operators goes further, ZTE磗 3G products have gained increasing recognition in the global markets. ZTE core networks have achieved sizable deployment in 2G/3G networks in more than 10 overseas countries including Tunisia, Nepal, Nigeria and Sri Lanka, and have passed tests set by world-class operators such as France Telecom and Telefonica.
