ZTE is the first large ICT company in China to receive official approval from the SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative) for the 1.5°C and net-zero targets, while also securing a place on the CDP A List for climate leadership in 2023 and 2024, making it the only company in China to have received the highest rating for two consecutive years. In 2025, ZTE once again received this top ranking, making it the only company in mainland China to achieve this distinction for three years running in recent years.
CDP is a not-for-profit that runs the world's environmental disclosure system for companies, cities, states and regions. CDP "A List" recognizes companies that have played a leading role worldwide in mitigating climate change through formulating robust strategy and taking bold actions.
In 2024, ZTE recognized with EcoVadis Gold Medal for sustainability excellence, ranked among the top 4% globally, and the top 2% of companies within the Manufacture of Communication Equipment industry. From 2022 to 2025, ZTE's EcoVadis Sustainability Rating has shown a continuous improvement: 63 (2022), and 68 (2023), 76 (2024), 77 (2025).
EcoVadis sustainability rating methodology is built on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and the ISO 26000, covering 220+ spend categories and 180+ countries. The Sustainability Scorecard illustrates performance across 21 indicators in four themes: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, Sustainable Procurement.
According to Morningstar Sustainalytics' ESG Risk Ratings, ZTE has consistently lowered its ESG risk ratings from 2022 to 2025. For four consecutive years, ZTE was rated as having Low ESG Risk, underscoring its sustained commitment to responsible and transparent business practices.
Morningstar Sustainalytics' ESG Risk Ratings measure a company's exposure to industry-specific material ESG risks and how well a company is managing those risks. The rating scale ranges from 0 to 10, identifying five categories of ESG risk severity that could impact a company's enterprise value: Negligible (0-10), Low (10-20), Medium (20-30), High (30-40), Severe (40+). A higher score indicates higher risks faced by the company.
From 2022 to 2025, ZTE's S&P Global ESG Scores have been continuously improving, rising from 34 in 2022, to 39 in 2023, 48 in 2024, and 52 in 2025. The company was honored with the title of "Industry Mover" and was selected for the S&P Global's Sustainability Yearbook 2025 (China Edition), marking its third consecutive year of recognition.
S&P Global ESG Scores measures a company's performance on and management of material ESG risks, opportunities, and impacts informed by a combination of company disclosures, media and stakeholder analysis, modelling approaches, and in-depth company engagement via the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment.
