8September2009, Shenzhen, ChinaZTE Corporation (“ZTE” - H share stock code: 00763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutionshas signed a contract with Finnish telecoms operator Elisa to establish a new ultra high bandwidth data communications network using existing copper telephone cables to deliver the next generation of online services such as IPTV (internet protocol TV).

The network will provide data bandwidth of up to 100 Mbps using the newest VDSL2 30a technology to selected locations in Finland.

Elisa is the largest 3G mobile telecoms operator in Finland and a major mobile and fixed line operator in the Nordic market. A key target for the company is to deliver new broadband services to customers of both fixed and mobile networks. Integrated IPTV is seen as one of the most important and potentially profitable services of the future. The new VDSL2 30a network will provide up to 100 Mbps for both downstream and upstream data traffic, more than enough capacity for IPTV and other future services.

ZTE began working with Elisa engineers in the second half of 2007. The VDSL2 solution was extensively tested to prove that it could reliably provide subscribers with a very high speed of connection. Elisa’s local requirements were then presented to the ZTE broadband R&D team, and these were developed and delivered within the required timeframe and closely matched Elisa’s management practices. The final solution was thus a customised product developed specifically for Elisa.

“ZTE’s focus is on customising equipment to meet our client’s requirements so that our solutions and services will improve the value that operators deliver to their customers,” said Ms.Cuijia, GM of ZTE North Europe. “We look forward to helping the people of Finland have the opportunity to watch high quality TV over the Elisa network.”
