8 September 2009, Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation (ZTE), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, has won two prestigious awards at the annual telecoms industry InfoVision Awards held in conjunction with Broadband World Forum Europe 2009 in Paris.

ZTE won the Metro Network Technologies and Services award for its IxWDM New Generation Bearer Network WDM Solution which integrates WSON, PXC, L2 switching and OTN technologies. It has intelligent control plane, large capacity optical/electrical-layer service dispatching, reliable carrier-class protection and other functions to meet the present and future network transport demands from the carriers.

The Core Network Innovation and Advances category was awarded to ZTE for its ZXUN xGW Extendable Gateway. This converged gateway can carry high volumes of multimedia traffic for EVDO, HSPA+, WiMAX and LTE and delivers seamless service continuity with handover optimisation within the system and capacity sharing between different access networks. The ZXUN xGW delivers low cost, high quality networking with simple expansion and migration for all types of operator.

These awards follow ZTE winning the InfoVision Access Network Technologies and Services Award at Broadband World Forum Europe 2007 in Berlin, and the New Product Concept award at Broadband World Forum Asia in 2008.

ZTE was the only company to be short listed for awards in the Core Network, Access Network and Metro Network categories in this year’s awards.

Ms. Chen Jie, ZTE SVP, said: “We are proud and honoured to receive these InfoVision Awards. This recognition of our wired products is a great encouragement for our continuous efforts in developing advanced and innovative product technologies.”

ZTE has a comprehensive range of wired communication products covering all key technologies. Product development is focused on keeping ZTE at the forefront of telecoms innovation, with future-proof products that can be easily upgraded to next generation technologies, and low power requirements for the greenest possible solution.

ZTE has been ranked as the leading global FTTx vendor by European consulting and research firm IDATE. Other recent announcements that have put ZTE at the forefront of wired technologies worldwide include:the new generation of ZTE IPTN bearer network solutions targeting mobile backhaul and multi-service delivery for IP-based services; the ZXR10 M6000 first-generation reconfigurable multi-service router for deployment in large-scale metropolitan area; the world's first next-generation IxWDM (wavelength division multiplexing) solution integrated with wavelength switched optical network (WSON), photonic cross-connect (PXC), L2 switch and optical transport network (OTN) technologies; the ZTE flagship ZXONE next-generation intelligent converged transport network (iCTN) and converged optical transport system; an all-IP multi-service bearer solution integrated with advanced IP/MPLS and T-MPLS (MPLS-TP) OAM (operations, administration and maintenance) as well as network protection.

The ZXA10 C300 multiservice access platform was launched in late 2008 and was the world's first next generation PON equipment, supporting EPON, GPON and next-generation PON (10G PON). On this platform, ZTE demonstrated the world's first asymmetrical 10G EPON equipment prototype in October 2008 and the first symmetrical 10G EPON equipment prototype in May this year, showing a clear FTTX construction blueprint for operators to smoothly evolve from EPON into 10G EPON.

ZTE had the highest optical networking industry sales growth with its Bearer Network Products in 4Q 2008, according to industry analyst Ovum, outperforming all other vendors with a 27% year-over-year sales increase, for its Bearer Network Products including multi-service bearer products and WDM products.
