Hong Kong has become the latest city to benefit from ZTE Corporation´s NGN technology. Wharf T&T – the city´s fastest growing fixed telecommunications network operator –is now using ZTE ´s NGN system to provide its subscribers integrated services combining voice, data and video communications.
The Wharf T&T network is the latest NGN commercial application for ZTE, which deployed its Softswitch solution as early as 2001, when it helped China Netcom build China´s first commercial Softswitch network, which covered more than ten major cities. It has since won a contract for the world´s first national network in Romania and a further project from Digitel, the Philippines´ second largest fixed line operator. Only last week, ZTE announced that it had been chosen by the ITU in Geneva to draft standards to cover the requirements and framework for crucial end-to-end quality of service (QoS) architecture for NGN (Y.e2eqos.1) and a QoS framework for IP-based access networks (Y.ipaqos).

Wharf T&T was established in 1995, built the second largest optical network in Hong Kong and laid more than 500,000 fixed telephone lines for local businesses and people. Wharf also expanded Hong Kong´s global connectivity and international bandwidth capabilities with other countries, and to date it has completed direct interconnection services with Mainland China, North America, Europe and other parts of Asia.
