3G Infrastructure Provides Full-Range of Services to Meet Local Market Needs

30November 2009, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced it has partnered with China Telecom to build the operator’s IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) in five costal provinces of China among seven key locations, as part of its 3G network infrastructure plan. Under the construction plan, ZTE will delivery end-to-end IMS solution for China Telecom to provide a full-range of services that will meet local market needs.

As one of the key partners of China Telecom in building its core network, ZTE has been selected to provide various critical solutions ranging from PSTN, to Softswitch and IMS. On April 10, 2009, ZTE successfully conducted the first IMS-based mobile video telephony call on its CDMA EV-DO network, making it first call of its kind in China.

China Telecom is one of the leading fixed operators globally. After obtaining its CDMA license early this year, it accelerated the development of its 3G network to implement full-service operations, including CDMA-based video telephony, PSTN replacement, EPON/MSAG, service broker, WIMS2.0 and more.

ZTE has been an active partner in the various IMS tests organized by China Telecom, and has achieved outstanding results. During the multi-vendor IOT tests conducted in August, ZTE was the only vendor to provide an EV-DO handset and to test a multitude (183 items) of mobile multimedia services, such as video telephony, multimedia ring back tone, video conferencing, IM and PS. All tests passed with 100% success rate.

“We’re glad to partner with China Telecom to construct its IMS network as part of its important 3G plan,” said Mr. Wang Xiaoqiang, President of ZTE IMS Products. “ZTE’s abundant experience in IMS solutions benefits our global customers with multimedia services, PSTN replacement and full-service operations. We are committed to providing our customers with tailored solutions to meet their market needs through innovative technology and unmatched partner services,” added Mr. Wang.

ZTE is one of the few vendors that provide end-to-end IMS solution. In September 2009, ZTE launched its brand-new ZIMS 2.0 solution, featuring full-service operation capabilities. ZTE ranks China’s first amongst IMS vendors with large-scale commercial deployment in Chinese market.
