Comprehensive Features Meet Market Needs and Helps Operator Reduce CAPEX and OPEX
27 November 2009, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced that it has completed the industry’s first commercial IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)-based high definition (HD) video conference system for China Mobile. This industry breakthrough announcement was made at the 2009 IMS Forum in Beijing, China.
The IMS-based commercial HD video conference system has been integrated in China Mobile’s IMS office network to help reduce China Mobile’s CAPEX and OPEX through unified network operations and easy maintenance.
The system enables China Mobile to enjoy converged multimedia conference functions via various terminals, including fixed line telephones, TD-SCDMA handsets, and desktop soft-clients. ZTE’s HD video conference system covers hundreds of nodes including China Mobile’s headquarters, domestic and overseas offices. It employs 1080P resolution and advanced codec technology to provide China Mobile high-quality and reliable conference services.
With its flexible service network architecture and features that enable a timely service launch, IMS is regarded as the ideal architecture for next-generation comprehensive networks for fixed-mobile convergence.
“To provide China Mobile with the industry’s first commercial IMS HD video conference system is a great technological breakthrough for ZTE, and the industry as a whole,” said Mr. Wang Xiaoqiang, President of ZTE IMS Products. “Video services possess huge market potential but demand high-bandwidth support. Constructing video conference systems with easy-to-operate, multi-service integration has been a challenge to operators. Today, with our partner China Mobile, we have overcome this obstacle and have paved the way for the advancement of network communications. ZTE will continue to invest in sophisticated communications solutions that fulfill market needs.”
ZTE has been dedicated to the advancement of IMS through research, testing and innovation. Recently, it launched the industry’s first IMS architecture-based tele-presence system, TrueSee, which features one-on-one live images and 1080p high-definition video. TrueSee offers rich converged multimedia services and high QoS guarantee compared to traditional tele-presence system, among other features. The state-of-the-art system provides carrier-grade reliability and manageability for conference services and enables a live, face-to-face communication experience available anytime, anywhere with almost any kind of conferencing device or terminal. This remarkable communication system allows operators to easily provide related business to enterprise users.
ZTE is one of the few vendors that provide end-to-end IMS solutions. In September 2009, ZTE launched its brand-new ZIMS 2.0 solution, featuring full-service operation capabilities. ZTE takes the lead in Chinese IMS market, with large-scale commercial deployments throughout the Chinese market.
