ZTE Corporation put through its own PHS call at Telexpo 2005 Brazil today. It is the first Chinese PHS call in Latin America. The call was made closely after ZTE´s PHS presentation was successfully delivered at Telexpo´s Official Forum in Brazil yesterday.

Although PHS technology originated in Japan, it grows most rapidly in China. With the completion of China´s world-leading PHS mobile communication application network, ZTE Corporation, a manufacturer with its own proprietary communications equipment, has scored huge success in China and has begun to provide services worldwide.

ZTE provides total solutions for PHS network. The Core control layer product is IGW and HLR, and the Wireless access layer product series are ICSC, RCSC and CS. The capacity of the IGW is 6,000,000, so it is easy for the operator to build a big PHS network.

This proprietary system incorporates multiple patent technologies and provides a wide range of functions. It can support various services including basic service and value-added system. ZXPCS system can support all the basic services like GSM system. Particularly, in the value-added service, ZXPCS can support data service, with the data rate being 64Kbps, and in the future it can support packet data service of 128Kbps or 256Kbps. The IN service includes pre-payment service, virtual private network service and mobile bank service. ZXPCS system is desired to be quick, flexible, easy-to-use and cost-effective.

ZTE Corporation can supply different kinds of PHS Cell Station. The CS power can be 20mW and 500mW. Channel numbers in a single CS will be increased from 1C7T to 1C15T and 1C31T. ZTE CS makes use of many advanced technologies such as SDMA, dynamic frequency assignment, adaptive array antenna and so on. ZTE Corporation can supply the Intelligent CS with adaptive array antenna technology. With this technology, it can decrease the interference between different subscribers and improve the quality of the network.

In China, as one of the PHS equipment providers, ZTE has constructed ZXPCS networks in almost every city and enjoyed a market share of over 40% by the end of May 2004. The total capacity of ZXPCS has exceeded 35 million lines. Also, ZTE has constructed the biggest PHS network in China, the capacity of which reaches about 1.7 million now.

As the main manufacturer of PHS and UMTS equipment, ZTE has sized 40% market share in China, and has been conducting in-depth research on how to make PHS and UMTS work together harmoniously and how to make the equipment cooperate smoothly in two systems.

After 4 years development, ZTE´s ZXPCS, featuring the capability of over 35 million lines and 25 million customers in China, has been touted as an important profit product for China Telecom and China Netcomm. In 2004, the PCS network was the leading profit-making service for China Telecom.

At the Telexpo 2005, ZTE´s mobile phones became another highlight. Visitors kept on asking questions at the handset zone of ZTE Booth, showing their great curiosity at the mobile phones manufactured by the Chinese telecom equipment exhibitor from Asia.
