Signing marks latest co-operation for ZTE following Alcatel, Portugal Telecom and Intel agreements

ZTE Corporation, China´s leading telecommunications manufacturer, is to become a global supplier of ADSL equipment to France Telecom, one of the world´s leading telecommunications carriers.

The announcement follows a strategic partnership agreement between France Telecom and China Telecom, under which the two companies have launched a joint call for purchasing ADSL products.  ZTE has signed contracts with both operators. Under the contract signed with France Telecom, ZTE becomes one of the company´s major suppliers of ADSL products.

This is the latest major success announced by ZTE and follows a MoU with Portugal Telecom and R&D cooperation with Intel, both of which have been announced last month. The France Telecom contract is a further milestone achievement for ZTE´s ADSL products, which provided vital communications at last year´s Olympic Games in Athens.

"We are very proud to become a supplier of France Telecom," said Mr. Ying Yimin,  President at ZTE.  "We believe this is a win-win relationship because we can provide our first-class and cost-effective solutions to France Telecom worldwide.  We hope to be able to build on this relationship and increase our presence in the European market.

"In 2004, about 40% of our revenue was attributable to international sales, representing a year-on-year increase of 169.5%. This year we will continue our globalisation strategy and introduce more of our products and services to international markets," he added.

As the leading broadband equipment supplier, ZTE is developing the very latest DSL technologies, including ADSL2/2+ and VDSL/VDSL2.  In addition, ZTE also offers new technologies such as SNOOPING ++, on-line usage monitoring software and M+1 terminal protection to provide operators with next-generation broadband products.
