ZTE Corporation of China, a global mainstream telecommunications infrastructure supplier, today announced its latest international success with the biggest CDMA contract in Nepal´s telecom history.

Under the terms of the contract, ZTE will supply CDMA2000 1X equipment to build a state-of-the-art network that will cover the country´s major areas. After the network is installed, it will simultaneously provide full mobile services and wireless local loop services, and the 1x EV-DO system will offer a data rate of 2Mbps.  Subscribers will also enjoy intelligent network services, voice mail, wireless high data rate services and other complementary services.

"Nepal - with mountainous regions, rural areas and some densely populated districts - presents an exciting challenge for providers of telecommunications infrastructure," said Mr Cao  Chenggang, general manager of ZTE´s representative office in Nepal .

"We were therefore delighted that ZTE´s solution was chosen - not only for its technological capability but for our commitment to deliver and support our customer."

ZTE´s CDMA growth has followed major wins in Egypt, Russia, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Kuwait, India, Indonesia, Vietnam and other markets with large populations.

In Vietnam, ZTE has become the largest CDMA system provider to the fast-growing market. ZTE won the second phase of a CDMA 2000 1X network construction project that will cover 13 provinces, including the most densely populated areas and highly developed zones such as the city of Ho Chi Minh and the Mekong Delta territory. In Indonesia, ZTE was awarded another contract to install a CDMA network which already covers a 500,000-line first phase development for the country´s largest city, Jakarta, and other developed areas. In Uzbekistan, a major order from Uzbek operator PERFECTUM MOBILE has confirmed ZTE´s leadership in the Central Asian wireless CDMA market. The new contract gives China´s leading telecommunications manufacturer an estimated 80% of the region´s market, with systems so far bought by operators in four countries. In Egypt, ZTE installed a CDMA WLL network covering the Nile River Delta area.  At home in China, ZTE deployed more than 100 million lines of its CDMA equipment in over 15 provincial companies of China Unicom.

By the end of September 2004, ZTE´s CDMA products were successfully applied in more than 30 countries with a global wireless capacity exceeding 18 million lines. ZTE has become the leader in pushing Chinese telecom manufacturing into the world market.

ZTE, China´s largest listed telecommunications equipment provider, has a full package of proprietary CDMA products and is capable of delivering solutions for various commercial applications. As the top Chinese CDMA brand, ZTE´s CDMA communications system can operate at various frequency bands: 450M, 800M, 1.9G and 2.1G.  ZTE has recently launched new products and value-added services, including CDMA products on an all-IP platform for 3G, a CDMA-based radio digital trunking communication system (GoTa), an encryption communication system, the CDMA 1X system, the GSM 1X system, and a CDMA 2000 1X  EV-DO system.

ZTE´s CDMA products on an all-IP platform for 3G are characterised by industry-leading performance, with the highest integration, the largest capacity and the most flexible networking configurations. Earlier this year, ZTE launched the first GSM 1X technology based gateway solution product: ZXC10-FLR/AUC, which allows mobile communication subscribers to roam between the GSM and CDMA networks.  The product has already been put into commercial applications by a number of carriers in the construction of the GSM and CDMA commercial office gateways.

ZTE Corporation will be presenting at the 3G World Congress and Exhibition 2004 in Hong Kong. ZTE will be unveiling its groundbreaking research results at 3G area including all-IP based EV-DO and CDMA2000 1X Release A and cutting-edge UMTS technologies that have thrilled the telecommunication industry and created exciting new possibilities for its partners in the applications market.  For more information, visit the ZTE Booth (no. 1104, Hall 7) at the World Congress on November 15-19, 2004 or www.zte.com.cn.
