Islamabad, Pakistan, August 4, 2026 – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a global leading provider of integrated information and communication technology solutions, together with SKY47, Pakistan's leading digital infrastructure and sovereign cloud provider, has successfully launched Karakoram-01 - Pakistan's first and largest purpose-built, AI-ready data center campus. 

 

To celebrate this landmark achievement, a grand inauguration ceremony was held on July 24, officiated by the Honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. Other attendees included Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja and officials, Lieutenant General (Retd) Anwar Ali Hyder, HI(M), Chairman Fauji Group of Companies along with key executives, and guests including James Zhang, Senior Vice President of ZTE.

 

Sky47 Karakoram-01 is more than a data center. It is a purpose-built infrastructure platform for sovereign cloud, AI acceleration, and enterprise transformation. Every facility is developed to global standards with uncompromising reliability, efficiency, and security. The facility is designed to support the growing demands of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and high-performance computing (HPC), while also playing a key role in securing sensitive national and commercial data. It marks the beginning of a new era of artificial intelligence in Pakistan and will serve as a milestone in strengthening Pakistan's digital economy.

 

As Pakistan's first purpose-built, AI-ready Tier III data center, Sky47 Karakoram-01 boasts a total power capacity of 8.5MW. ZTE delivered a fully optimized end-to-end data center solution for the project, completing the high-quality deployment in just 8 months for MEP parts. This achievement underscores ZTE's world-leading expertise in data center planning, integration, and construction. This data center integrates innovative technologies such as cold-plate liquid cooling, prefabricated power modules, and intelligent busbars, enabling flexible cooling and power supply in the facility. It provides a scalable and future-proof high-density computing infrastructure tailored for AI Computing, ensuring seamless adaptability to the growing long-term demand for AI compute power.

 

Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised this flagship data center as a remarkable achievement project and expressed confidence that it will play a pivotal role in Pakistan's technological transformation and digital future. The Prime Minister also praised ZTE,  the core technical partner of the project, for its unwavering commitment and exceptional technological expertise, citing previous successful collaborations, such as solar energy projects in Punjab province. He described Sky47 Karakoram-01 as a milestone benefiting the people of Pakistan and marking a new chapter in the evolution of the nation's digital infrastructure.

 

Lieutenant General (Retd) Anwar Ali Hyder, HI(M), Chairman Fauji Group of Companies, also commended ZTE's exemplary performance during the construction phase. He highlighted the seamless collaboration between ZTE and SKY47 teams, who displayed unwavering professionalism and tireless dedication in overcoming multiple challenges to deliver the project on schedule and to the highest standards.

 

Prior to the event, ZTE's Senior Vice President James Zhang joined Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for a tree-planting ceremony. During the interaction, they discussed ZTE's long-term commitment to driving innovation, enabling digital transformation, and supporting critical infrastructure development across Pakistan. Following the ceremony, Hassan Abbas, CEO of SKY47, guided the dignitaries through a tour of the data center, showcasing its advanced computing capabilities, power management, and AI readiness.

 

In subsequent discussions, the Sky47 management team highly praised ZTE's professional delivery capabilities and collaborative spirit. Hasnain, Director Passive of SKY47, stated, "Having worked in the communications industry for over twenty years, this is the most comprehensively competent delivery team I have ever encountered." He added that he looks forward to deepening this excellent collaboration on the upcoming Karachi data center project, jointly creating a new benchmark for digital infrastructure.

 

The successful launch of the Sky47 Karakoram-01 data center marks a significant milestone in Pakistan's digital infrastructure development. It also underscores ZTE's deep collaboration with local partners and its unwavering commitment to building a shared digital future. By the end of 2025, ZTE's data center products have been deployed in over 500 projects globally, with more than 4,300,000 racks installed across data centers spanning over 3.5 million square meters. The solutions have received over 70 industry awards both domestically and internationally.
