Multi-Mode Multi-Frequency Networking
- Software Defined Radio Technology
It enables one RF unit to support multiple radio modes within the same frequency band. At different frequency bands, multi-mode hybrid networking is achieved by sharing the same base band unit among several RF units, which effectively integrates multi-frequency-band and multi-mode network, decreasing TCO greatly.
- Unified MicroTCA Hardware Platform
SDR-based Node B adopts unified MicroTCA platform to achieve high integrity and processing capacity. This platform minimizes base station’s dimension and optimizes its performance. Each BP board DL data throughput reaches 130 Mbps and UL 35 Mbps, which not only meets the requirement of multi-mode networking, but also suffices the demands to smoothly evolve to future HSPA+/LTE network.
- MCPA Technology
MCPA multi-carrier PA module utilizes broadband RF technology that one PA module supporting multi-channel RF, enhancing system integrity and capacity and paving the foundation for multi-mode networking in the same RF unit. Single RF unit of an SDR-based Node B supports 4CSs UMTS or 6TRXs GSM, and also realizes CS & TRX flexible configuration between UMTS and GSM.
- Multi-mode Base Station Controller
The multi-mode controller applies the unified platform that is the same as the Core Network elements, featuring high capacity and high reliability based on the all-IP switching architecture. The platform supports co-transmission, common radio resource management for different system, meanwhile, the function board can be reused for multi-mode by software reconfiguration, facilitating flexible scalability and evolution capability.
Different modes and frequency bands share the unified network management system with identical interface, configuration and maintenance.

Evolution from HSPA to HSPA+ only requires software upgrade without any alteration in hardware, and its download rate reaches 86.4 Mbps per user.

SDR-based Node B is enabled to evolve to LTE merely by adding LTE baseband processing board and relevant RF modules. Together with software upgrade, DL 150 Mbps/UL 75 Mbps network throughput per cell is available.
