ZTE enhances resilience, convergence, and modernization of mobile networks for Malaysian operators

Release Time:2023-11-14
  • ZTE’s unique Tri-band Ultra-broadband Radio (UBR) with the industry’s largest output power helps reduce site footprint by 2/3, greatly saving tower space, and OPEX of rental. With UBR replacement, power consumption is also reduced by up to 17.1%, while power efficiency ratio (KWh/GB) is improved by up to 21.6%
  • Malaysia mobile operators, together with ZTE also implements intelligent network tools to ensure efficient network operations and maintenance. With CSON server, AI power saving solution helps operators reach up to 19% of additional power saving

Shenzhen, China, 14 November 2023 - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a global leading provider of information and communication technology solutions, together with Malaysia mobile operators, has been quickly delivering Malaysia’s future digital network with the latest technologies in 2023.

The network modernization utilizes combined spectrum to offer users higher throughput, deeper coverage and an improved user experience. Given the increasing demand for multi-technology multi-band service and traffic, tower load & space efficiency play crucial roles. In hot spot areas, the ever-growing traffic also poses great challenges to existing network.

To tackle these challenges, Malaysia mobile operators introduce ZTE’s unique Tri-band Ultra-broadband Radio (UBR) with the industry’s largest output power to the project, which helps reduce site footprint by 2/3, greatly saving tower space, and OPEX of rental. With UBR replacement, power consumption is also reduced by up to 17.1%, while power efficiency ratio (KWh/GB) is improved by up to 21.6%.

In hot spot areas, after deploying 2000+ ZTE FDD Massive MIMO with the industry’s largest output power, average data traffic has been improved by 54%, and average downlink throughput has been improved by 80%, greatly enhancing network performance.

Malaysia mobile operators, together with ZTE also implement intelligent network tools to ensure efficient network operations and maintenance. For example, with CSON server, AI power saving solution helps operators reach up to 19% of additional power saving. Netmax and VMAX help operators to highly improve the efficiency of network operation and maintenance.

The network modernization project carried out by Malaysia operators and ZTE, is key to serve the growing digital needs of Malaysians by leveraging the widest network footprint, and innovative digital products and services. As of October, 3700+ sites and 4000+ Tri-band UBR have been delivered, far ahead of original plan, and 5000+ site will be delivered by the end of this year.

The continuously modernized network is expected to achieve 98% coverage in populated areas of Malaysia by 2028. The partnership between Malaysia operators and ZTE represents a significant step forward in Malaysia's journey toward a more connected and digital future.
