ZXONE 9700 S2 delivers as much as 9.2T (terabits per second) cross-connection capacity

24 September 2015, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, announced the launch of a new 400G (400 gigabits per second) optical transport network solution with the industry’s largest cross-connection capacity to help customers meet growing Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) bandwidth requirements.

The new ZXONE 9700 S2 solution, launched at the PT/EXPO COMM CHINA conference in Beijing, is capable of providing as much as 9.2T (terabits per second) cross-connection capacity, with packet OTN capabilities to enhance bandwidth utilization of MAN networks. The ZXONE 9700 S2 enables more flexible and more intelligent networking and supports evolution to SDON (software-defined optical network).

"With industry-leading levels of optical-electrical integration, the ZXONE 9700 S2  can be deployed at the core or convergence layer in a MAN network to meet the increasingly urgent demand for a unified multi-service bearer,” said Xu Ming, Vice President of ZTE. “By making network layers simpler and operation and maintenance easier, the ZXONE 9700 S2 is the preferred solution for MAN networks.”

ZTE increased its market share in the global optical network products market to 14% in the second quarter of 2015, from 12% a year earlier, according to data from industry consultants Ovum. ZTE achieved growth in annualized sales of WDM (WavelengthDivision Multiplexing)/CPO-T (Converged Packet Optical-Transport) in each of the past 11 quarters, according to Ovum.
