9 March 2015, Shenzhen, China ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, has launched its industry-leading green uSmartDC solution. This solution, covering all data center (DC) links from equipment room construction to multi-DC management, helps customers build efficient, elastic, and cloud-based DCs. With an industry-leading power usage effectiveness (PUE) value, the ZTE uSmartDC resolves customers' major issues around the DC, and helps them to improve their competitiveness in the market.

ZTE recognises the multi-DC management model by introducing the high-degree decoupling concept for Internet resource services to DC management, and provides the unified management platform to support the automated process. This uSmartDC solution can prevent the isolation of service processes, change the out-of-date organisational management concept, and provide operators with an efficient and easy-to-use management platform. With mainstream network function virtualization (NFV) and software defined networking (SDN) technologies, multiple DCs can be seamlessly interconnected. The IT resource architecture, which is unified but physically distributed, is built to ensure real-time data communication, quick dynamic deployment of application services and multi-DC integration & hybrid cloud. Customers can flexibly use all resources in DCs.

With regards to the use of natural resources in the uSmartDC solution, ZTE has introduced evaporative cooling technology to the DC cooling system. Depending on the local climate, wind can be used to cool the equipment. On hot days, the temperature of the cooling wind can be reduced through the evaporation of the drinking water. This means that the solution’s power consumption is very low, and that the PUE can reach 1.06, significantly lower than the standard 1.5 PUE of an energy-efficient DC. The energy-saving solution ensures not only the normal service operation of the entire DC, but also the sustainable development of the environment.

The cloud DC is the outcome of social and economic development, technological advances, people's needs, and business model transformation. With the booming development of the Internet industry, operators are leading transformation and developing the traditional CT business with Internet concepts through ICT convergence. The uSmartDC is suited to become an optimal platform to support the ICT convergence.
