5 June 2013, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment, network solutions and mobile devices, has been recognized for its innovative work with its operator customers, It has won the 2013 Wireless Network Infrastructure Innovation award and the Consumer Service Innovation award at the GTB Innovation Awards 2013.

The Wireless Network Infrastructure Innovation award was presented to ZTE and China Mobile for the Cloud Radio Zhejiang high-speed railway 4G project. The Consumer Service Innovation award was handed to ZTE and Jiangsu Telecom for the IPTV early childhood education service.

The GTB Innovation awards, which took place in London on 4 June, 2013, are intended to honour innovative projects built by global telecom operators, service providers, equipment vendors, and suppliers. Each year, judges are invited to review telecom projects and select those that offer significant global network innovation.

The Cloud Radio high-speed railway 4G project is the world’s first TD-LTE high-speed railway network constructed using the advanced Cloud Radio solution and entered into commercial trials in January 2013. The LTE network for the Shanghai-Hangzhou high-speed railway covers the 60 km long railway from the Jiaxing South Railway Station to the area connecting Jiaxing and Yuhang with 18 base stations and 59 cells. This network provides users with average download bandwidth of 21 Mbps under 300 km/hr speed.

ZTE's Cloud Radio solution can resolve problems caused by high-speed travel to the train’s on-board mobile internet service, such as degraded wireless performance and high call-drop rates due to frequent network handovers.  The intelligent frequency compensation algorithm of Cloud Radio can accurately calculate frequency offset in advance with errors smaller than 0.2 dB, and obtain a gain of 4dB. If the advanced super cell technology of Cloud Radio is used, interference suppression between cells can reach 3dB, and probabilities of network handover and cell reselection can be reduced by over 50%. These advanced technologies dramatically improve user experience of mobile Internet and voice calls on high-speed trains.

High-speed railway has become an efficient and economic means of transport and the first choice of most long-distance travelers. The high-speed railway LTE network has helped China Mobile to occupy a leading position in a fiercely competitive environment. Among China Mobile's LTE projects under construction, the China Mobile Zhejiang high-speed railway network ranks first in terms of both performance and network deployment speed, and has quickly established itself as a star in the Chinese railway network system.

ZTE and Jiangsu Telecom were recognized in the GTB Consumer Service Innovation award category for their IPTV early childhood education service. As global TV operators look for new ways to increase revenues from existing customers and attract new customers, the TV is becoming defined as a new home center of entertainment and education. The early childhood education service, the result of collaboration between Jiangsu Telecom and ZTE, shows a successful example of how TV operators can deliver compelling services to the booming early childhood education market.

The IPTV early childhood education service uses an interactive mode, which makes full use of the up, down, left, right, and OK keys on remote controls and books or age-based cartoons in TV programs. In addition, through collaboration with famous children’s education content providers, the system can provide abundant personalized services such as Child Growth Monitoring Table, which helps parents to record their children's education effects and track their children's growth processes.

As a worldwide leading LTE supplier, by the end of 2012, ZTE had obtained 45 commercial LTE contracts, including China Mobile, SoftBank, Telenor, Bharti, Hutchison, Telstra and other globally leading operators to successfully build large-scale LTE networks, and collaborated with over 110 operators across the world to deploy LTE trial networks.

As a globally leading IPTV/OTT vendor, by Q4 2012, ZTE had constructed 49 commercial IPTV offices worldwide with user capacity exceeding 20 million. In addition, ZTE has built the world’s largest H.264 IPTV network. ZTE’s IPTV solution can provide end-to-end multimode multi-screen multimedia services and is the only platform in the world that can integrate fixed network IPTV, Web TV, and mobile TV. Through mutually complementary and interactive collaboration with operators, ZTE will also become an OTT service provider in addition to an OTT equipment vendor. ZTE's innovative solution combines low bit rates, high definition, and OTT multi-screen integration technologies has been welcomed by operators worldwide.
