14 December 2011, Düsseldorf - ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, has been awarded an OHSAS 18001 certificate by TÜV Rheinland. The OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health & Safety Advisory Services) confirms ZTE Germany’s compliance with the European and German labour safety requirements. The certificate also demonstrates that ZTE Germany preventively implements the highest standards of health and safety.

The OHSAS 18001 standard is recognised in more than 80 countries around the world and is the best known and most important standard for a safety management system. The goal is the prevention of occupational accidents and improving the health of employees in the workplace.

ZTE, a global provider of telecommunications products, acquired an OHSAS 18001 certificate in China in 2005. However, this was still pending for the German market. The company began to prepare its German office in August 2010 for the auditing process and established an internal working group with members from all company departments. They worked closely with the Quality Department of the Chinese parent company by integrating the health and safety management system into the existing Quality Management a holistic, integrative management system (IMS) has been created.

"We are very pleased to be awarded with the TÜV seal," said John Lee, managing director of ZTE Germany GmbH. “Not only because it qualifies ZTE in Germany as a good employer, but also because we can show our customers that they are working with a company that meets the highest demands in terms of safety and quality management. We think that this award also strengthens the confidence of our customers in Germany. "

As part of the preparation for the TÜV audit, all ZTE Germany staff, including the management, underwent evaluations and training sessions. Further measures such as driver training for employees and Tai Chi classes were conducted within the workplace. Security officers were trained by a professional team and first aid courses were held by the Red Cross. Together with the local contractors, the officers and internal auditors conducted fire and emergency drills and safety checks on the mobile sites.

In a joint effort with customers Mr. Liu Yunbo, responsible for after sales as well as the management system, established the ZTE *STAR supplier rating and qualifying system. Finally, two auditing sequences by the TÜV had successfully been completed, one in February and one in June 2011, resulting in the issue of the OHSAS 18001 certificate for ZTE.
