22nd October 2010, Shenzhen – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, demonstrated its continued commitment to corporate social responsibility by organizing a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) conference with the theme "Teaming up for Excellence and Working together to Create a CSR Supply Chain." The event was held in Sanya, China on 14-16 October and was attended by representatives from key suppliers, customers and leading international testing organizations, who gathered to share their experiences and discuss collective solutions on CSR and sustainability.

According to Mr. Ye Weimin, Senior Vice President of ZTE, CSR is the responsibility of the entire supply chain and requires the involvement and participation of all links of the entire chain. A company does not exist purely to create profits and reward its shareholders, but also needs to protect its employees as well as the environment.

"As a leading international company, ZTE has the responsibility to develop the economy together with the local communities in terms of environmental protection and sustainable development. Our strategy is to pro-actively develop, implement and improve CSR compliance throughout ZTE and its supply chain based on industry best practices, continuous learning and improvement efforts. Its objective is to develop into a global CSR leader in the long-term," said Mr Ye.

ZTE's overseas partners British Telecom (BT) and France Telecom (FT) also shared their experiences in implementing CSR programs and in participating in sustainability initiatives globally, as well as their specific CSR requirements for their own suppliers. British Telecom also noted at the conference that ZTE has demonstrated a high level of credibility and openness in its years of cooperation with BT with regards to CSR programs, and they were confident that ZTE is already managing its suppliers properly. Both BT and FT expressed their willingness to let ZTE manage the CSR issues of their tier-2 suppliers in ZTE's supply chain, believing that the CSR workshop was very important for improving the CSR consciousness of executives.

A representative of Pony Testing International Group, a leader in the detection of hazardous substances, said, "Pony has really and profoundly felt the efforts and outstanding achievements of ZTE as one of China's leading communications equipment suppliers in promoting the harmonious economic, environmental and social development as well as in becoming a good global corporate citizen."

ZTE has engaged with a number of top international telecom operators on CSR initiatives through helping the supply chain to improve its overall CSR level continuously, sharing the best practice and providing training for more than 500.
