ZTE Corporation, China´s largest listed telecommunications manufacturer, has joined companies such as Siemens, Alcatel and NEC as being a leading worldwide supplier of DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) equipment.
 
According to a new report from highly respected Gartner Dataquest, shipments of DSLAM increased more than eight per cent in the third quarter of 2004 - from 13.3 million ports to 14.4. And DSLAM port revenue increased 2.3 percent in 3Q 04 to 895.3 million from & 875 million in 2Q 04.

ZTE´s positioning confirms its growing significance in the world market. To date, ZTE has deployed over 10 million DSL products in over 30 countries and regions around the world. Last year, ZTE supplied a DSL network to serve the Olympic Games, which performed throughout the Games with no problems or downtime. Earlier this month, ZTE announced that it is to become a global supplier of ADSL equipment to France Telecom and the first shipment will go to Europe.

Committed over 10% of its revenue to R&D every year, ZTE is developing the very latest DSL technologies, including ADSL2/2+ and VDSL/VDSL2.  In addition, ZTE also offers new technologies such as SNOOPING ++, on-line usage monitoring software and M+1 terminal  protection to provide operators with next-generation broadband products.

The news of ZTE´s DSLAM market position comes as the company is embarking on its first technology roadshow in Europe. The four-month, ten-country, tour began last week in Turkey, where more than 300 guests came to see a range of ZTE technologies. Visitors included Mr. Abdullatif SENER, Vice Prime Minister of Turkey, and senior executives from the Turkish Transportation Ministry, the Turkish Telecom Authority, Turk Telekom, Turk Cell, Telsim and Avea.
