Comverse, a unit of Comverse Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: CMVT), and the world´s leading supplier of software and systems enabling network-based multimedia enhanced communication services, and ZTE Corporation (0763.HK), the fastest growing global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced plans for a strategic cooperation towards the joint offering and delivery of value added services to the fixed and mobile markets in China.

Comverse and ZTE will carry out joint activities to provide advanced multimedia messaging solutions, including Mobile Email, Mobile Instant Messaging and Presence Server using ZTE´s GoTa™ trunk network infrastructure.  In addition, both companies will pursue joint business opportunities with 3G network operators.

GoTa can improve wireless operators´ revenues and help keep a low churn rate by simultaneously cutting operators´ trunking costs while opening up the opportunity for operators to deliver new value-added services and an improved user experience. The technology takes full advantage of CDMA2000´s high voice quality, system capacity and high data rates to enable operators to deliver many more mobile community services and realize a smooth evolution path toward CDMA2000 1xEV-DO. This data-oriented evolution provides multi-megabit peak rates and average rates of hundreds of kilobits per second at a low cost per bit for improved provisioning of modern content-rich services.

"We welcome this opportunity to enhance our offering with Comverse´s leading products and services," said Dr. Zhao Xianming, President of ZTE´s CDMA Division. "Our network offering and Comverse´s value-added services provide a powerful combination to give network operators a leading edge in the fast growing Asian market and throughout the world."

"We are pleased to work with ZTE due to their leading technology, strong market reach, and broad product offering," said Eitan Achlow, President of Comverse APAC.  "We look forward to continuing collaboration and view this partnership as one of the driving forces behind the expansion of our presence in Asia Pacific."

ZTE´s GoTa products have been widely adopted by service providers globally since their launch in early 2004. The system´s conventional digital trunking services, together with new and efficient applications and features developed on the GoTa Trunking platform, are now available worldwide.
