ZTE Corporation ( Shenzhen: 000063, Hong Kong: 0763), China´s largest listed telecommunications manufacturer and leading wireless solutions provider, has recently announced it will be providing China Satcom with its GoTa (Global Open Trunking Architecture) technology for deployment at China´s 10th National Games which begin on October 12th in the Jiangsu province.

The announcement follows an agreement earlier this month when the event´s organising committee awarded China Satcom the contract to provide the dispatch communication system, as well as special measures needed for safety and emergency response.  The system will support more than 40,000 users including event organisers, security staff and emergency medical personnel.

"It is a great honour to provide the communications system for such an important event," said Mr Shi Lirong, senior vice president at ZTE. "We are confident that our GoTa technology will prove itself whilst under the spotlight and ensure that China´s 10th National Games is the safest and smoothest ever held".

Under the terms of the deal ZTE will provide its full package of GoTa technology - the world´s first CDMA-based digital trunking mobile communications system - including GoTa terminals, BTS, BSC, MSS, PDSS and DSS.

In addition to the basic voice and data services, the system will also provide more advanced functions which include private call, group call, broadcast call, emergency call, floor taken, user online status query, and function number addressing.

In July, ZTE´s GoTa digital trunking system and GoTa handsets were selected by China Satcom for use at the Finance Ministers´ Meeting (FMM) at the inter-governmental Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM).  The Asia-Europe Meeting serves as a forum for fostering policy dialogues and consultations on financial issues between Asia and Europe.

To date, ZTE´s GoTa system has been successfully deployed in more than 20 countries including Malaysia, Russia, Norway, Turkey, and Brazil, making it the most successful Chinese digital trunking product and one of the top digital trunking technologies in the world.

About GoTa

GoTa (Global open Trunking architecture) is a next-generation digital trunking communication system. This CDMA-based technology was independently developed by ZTE CORPORATION which holds the proprietary core intellectual property rights. GoTa has inherited the advantages of CDMA such as powerful coverage capability, large capacity, high spectrum availability, easy planning, and high data bandwidth.  In November 2004, GoTa was officially adopted by the State as the only CDMA-based standard in the Chinese trunking industry. In June 2005, ZTE GoTa digital trunking technology successfully passed the technical appraisal run by the Ministry of Information Technology of PRC.
