ZTE announces partnerships, exhibits advances in IoT, 5G, Big Video, Smart City and SDN/NFV

30 June 2016, Shanghai, China – ZTE President, Dr. Zhao Xianming today delivered his keynote speech at MWC Shanghai 2016 and shared ZTE’s vision on how the IoT will bring about the Fourth Industrial Revolution and revolutionize the entirety of how societies work and live.

 

Dr. Zhao’s forward looking speech highlighted both the stunning progress made possible through the IoT and the challenges that it must overcome in future. These challenges include difficulties with existing network infrastructure and access modes, the need to accommodate exponential connection growth and the diverse requirements for delay, bandwidth and reliability. Dr. Zhao also outlined ZTE’s plans to help the industry overcome these obstacles through the deployment of innovative solutions including 5G.

 

Dr. Zhao concluded, “The IoT has created significant progress in intelligent manufacturing, smart cities, intelligent transportation, and smart homes. Various innovative IoT applications will soon emerge. We’re at the eve of a powerful new IoT-enabled revolution in business and as a global society. All parties across the industrial chain have a collaborative, cooperative role to play in promoting the healthy development of the IoT industry.”

 

Recent significant industry developments from ZTE and highlights from MWC Shanghai include:

 

  • Pre5G partnership with China Mobile
  • Signing of 5G Memorandum of Understanding with Telefonica
  • IoT platform partnership with China Telecom (Shanghai Telecom)
  • Demonstration of 5G MEC-Based VR solution with China Unicom
  • Demonstration of smart manhole cover with China Mobile

 

The ZTE booth exhibits both advances in tech and the company’s M-ICT vision. The booth is separated into four zones: Connected Everything, to showcase the power of 5G and NB-IoT; SDN/NFV, which exhibits that technology in action with Cloud Works; Platform and Service, which demonstrates RSC and Big Video technological capabilities; and Terminal, which displays the AXON 7 smartphone and the Spro Plus smart projector.
