February 12, 2018 - Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced that it has clinched a 70% share of the first stage in the access network modernization project the Russian operator Rostelecom.

By this project, Rostelecom aims to deliver high-speed bandwidth over its existing copper cables.

With ZTE's Multi-Service Access Network (MSAN) product that adopts technologies such as VDSL, Rostelecom aims to build the first stage of the project. The second stage will implement such high-speed technologies as G.vectoring and G.fast. The solutions for the second stage are now under tests in Rostelecom.

As new services based on the IP Internet grow rapidly, users have increasingly high demands for high-speed Web access. Rostelecom, the largest fixed network operator in Russia, urgently needs an integrated access platform that both inherits traditional services and provides high-speed broadband services. The platform improves speeds of the existing copper network and supports high-bandwidth for the new services, including 4K/8K video and potentially AR/VR.

To help Rostelecom conduct an upgrade of its broadband infrastructure, ZTE offers its advanced optic/copper integrated product, the C350M/C300M MSAN equipment.

The product reduces the operator's CAPEX while meeting the requirement to increase network speeds. It also allows smooth evolution towards the FTTx network, enabling Rostelecom to directly deploy the MSAN product on its next-generation optical network.

The harsh climate in most areas of Russia brings stringent requirements for equipment performance. ZTE equips its products with lithium batteries that last long in low-temperature environments and provide customized outdoor cabinets that are cold-resistant, water-proof, moisture-resistant and dust-proof to guarantee internet reliability and stability. These measures overcome the last challenge of outdoor deployment of the MSAN access platform.

ZTE's MSAN equipment also adopts a variety of energy-saving innovations, including smart electricity-supply technology and higher-density ASIC chips, which reduce the power consumption per port by more than 30% from the industry average, thereby significantly decreasing OPEX.

ZTE's MSAN has been deployed by more than 50 operators around the world. With a total installed base of over 10 million lines, the product helps the operators lead in the information age.
