ZTE and Partners Launch 2026 Engineering Capacity Building Program (Artificial Intelligence) to Foster Global Innovation
- Over 60 international engineers gathered in Nanjing to explore AI frontier technologies and engineering practices
- Organized by ZTE, the program features technical reports, workshops, and immersive site exchanges to foster international collaborative innovation and mutual benefit

Nanjing, China, October 21, 2026 — ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a global leading provider of integrated information and communication technology solutions, has successfully launched the 2026 Engineering Capacity Building Program (Artificial Intelligence) in Nanjing. Hosted by the Chinese Society of Engineers, organized by ZTE, and co-organized by the Jiangsu Institute of Communications, the program is held under the theme "AI Empowers Cooperation, Intelligent Innovation Drives Prosperity". Over 60 Chinese and international engineers from Belt and Road partner countries — including Brazil, Nigeria, and Pakistan — gathered to embark on a six-day journey focused on cutting-edge AI technologies, engineering innovation, and sustainable industrial development.
The initiative aims to foster technological collaboration and professional exchange in artificial intelligence between China and participating countries. By offering global engineers a firsthand look at advanced industrial AI and smart manufacturing practices, the program is designed to spark collaborative innovation, bridge technical know-how, and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes in the AI era.

At the opening ceremony, Sun Fangping, Senior Vice President and President of Global Services at ZTE, and Song Tong, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Institute of Communications, delivered welcome addresses to the participating engineers from around the world.
Sun Fangping noted in his speech that as the global digital transformation deepens, artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming the core driving force behind industrial revolution and international collaboration. Leveraging its extensive engineering practice and technological expertise in ICT and AI, ZTE is committed to building a platform for mutual learning and exchange among global engineers. ZTE looks forward to sharing technical experience, exploring frontier directions, and jointly enhancing engineering capabilities with engineers worldwide.
Song Tong emphasized that engineers serve as an essential bridge connecting cutting-edge technologies with industrial applications. He expressed hope that participants would seize this program as an opportunity to deepen dialogue and mutual learning, joining hands to build an open, inclusive, and mutually beneficial global engineering ecosystem.
On the first day, participants immediately engaged in an intensive curriculum. During the keynote reporting sessions, Chinese and international engineering experts exchanged insights on topics such as the evolution of large AI model and Token technologies, progress in engineering capability building and international cooperation networks, as well as engineering certification mutual recognition system development, providing valuable references for the international career growth of the engineers.
During the technical exchange session, the engineers visited ZTE's Nanjing Smart Binjiang 5G Factory — China's first certified five-star 5G factory. In scenarios featuring intelligent production lines and "5G + Industrial Internet" applications, participants gained firsthand experience of the innovative convergence between smart manufacturing and AI technologies, engaging in vibrant discussions on the deployment of AI in manufacturing, operations, and maintenance.
Over the coming days, the program will roll out a series of specialized technical presentations and workshops. Engineers will attend thematic sessions focused on topics such as AI development trends, AI engineering innovation, and AI safety, and actively participate in interactive sessions including Co-Claw workshops and AI project roundtables. The itinerary also includes on-site study visits to ZTE's CloudNet OpenLab, Cloud Delivery Center, and the Jiangsu Future Networks Innovation Institute. Furthermore, participants will take part in seminars on "Global Communications and AI Development", experience-sharing sessions, and local cultural tours in Nanjing to deepen mutual understanding and experience China's rich and diverse culture.
Looking ahead, ZTE will continue to leverage its strengths in ICT and AI engineering practices and technical accumulation to deepen cooperation with the international engineering community and emerging markets. ZTE remains dedicated to building normalized platforms for global engineers to learn from one another, exploring new models for joint talent cultivation and capacity building, and sharing engineering best practices to contribute to the career growth of global engineers and the sustainable development of the digital economy.
The 2026 Engineering Capacity Building Program (Artificial Intelligence) is one of the featured events of the "International Month 2026" initiated by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST). Centered on the annual theme of "Originating Innovation, Nurturing Excellence Fostering", the "International Month 2026" is coordinated by CAST in collaboration with international sci-tech organizations, local governments, national societies, and local science and technology associations. It aims to foster communication, shared development, and a shared future between Chinese and international sci-tech professionals, demonstrating China's accelerated transition from a global participant and contributor to a pioneer and leader in science and technology.
