ZTE Hosted IEEE 802.16´s Session 31

ZTE announced that it successfully hosted IEEE 802.16´s Session 31 on 17-20 May, 2004 in Shenzhen, China. It is the first time that IEEE 802 session was hosted by a Chinese enterprise, and it is also another achievement ZTE has made in the international standardization area.

  More than 200 industry experts from equipment vendors, operators and research institutes like Intel, Fujitsu, Siemens, Qualcom, Samsung, LG, Motorola, Nortel, Nokia, China Mobile and Telecommunications Research Institute under Ministry of Information Industry of China attended the conference. By virtue of its strong technology capability in the broadband wireless access area, ZTE has obtained several memberships in IEEE 802.16 working group, and its experts are actively participated in the standardization work.

 

  Formed in 1999, IEEE 802.16 working group is mainly engaged in setting broadband wireless access standards, which specifies the Wireless MAN Air Interface related standards. IEEE 802.16 addresses the "last-mile" connection to families, enterprises and wireless local area networks. With the formation of the universal standards, the broadband wireless access industry will surely witness a fully booming period.
