 “2015 Global Technology Innovation Award in 5G Networks” from Frost & Sullivan recognizes ZTE’s industry leadership in 5G research and commercialization of proprietary pre5G solution

 

23 June 2015, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, is pleased to receive the “2015 Global Technology Innovation Award in 5G Networks” from leading market consultants Frost & Sullivan.

 

The award recognizes ZTE’s global industry leadership in research on 5G, or fifth-generation mobile networks, and superior technology innovations. ZTE was the first telecommunications solutions provider to develop pre5G solutions, which use 5G-ready technologies to provide commercial 4G LTE subscribers with 5G-like access experience. The Technology Innovation of the Year Award is part of Frost & Sullivan’s Best Practices Awards, rewarding companies for excellence in technology evolution within their industry sectors.

In November 2014, ZTE successfully completed pre-commercial test of the world’s first pre5G Massive MIMO base station, several months after the company first articulated the pre5G concept in June 2014. At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in March 2015, ZTE demonstrated its pre-commercial 5G 3D/massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) base stations with China Mobile, achieving data rates with a peak value three times as high as that of traditional 8 antenna base stations in a joint field test, setting new records in both spectral efficiency and single-carrier capacity.

 

Based on the simulation results, ZTE’s new pre5G multi-user shared Access (MUSA) technology demonstrated the capability to more than triple overload capacity of wireless access networks, delivering an over 200% improvement in the overload radio, helping to transition networks for the era of the Internet of Things.

 

ZTE’s pre5G Ultra-Dense Network (UDN) solution makes full use of the sophisticated Pico RRU hardware platform and Cloud Radio interference cancellation technology, enabling denser deployment of base stations for operators to gain higher capacity density. ZTE expects its Pre5G technologies will be commercially deployed in 2015.

 

ZTE is a major contributor and participant in the standardization of 5G technology globally. As a major member of the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group, ZTE plays a leading role in technical definitions including IEEE-oriented 5G technologies, 5G network architecture, and breakthrough technologies for the physical layer of 5G networks. In March, ZTE was included in Deutsche Telekom's initial list of 5G Innovation Lab partners.
