Cloud UniCore uses virtualized platform technology to achieve elastic configuration and flexible operation of future networks

24 March 2014, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment, network solutions and mobile devices, is pleased that the company’s new Cloud UniCore solution was favorably cited by market intelligence advisory firm Current Analysis, located in Sterling Virginia, as a key technology for operators in the development of future networks.

The Cloud UniCore solution, unveiled by ZTE at the Mobile World Congress 2014, was cited by Current Analysis as “the evitable technology choice” for operators in a Market Advisory Report issued this month. ZTE was selected as the virtualized core solutions partner of China Mobile after the operator completed a test of Cloud UniCore, according to Current Analysis.

The report further noted that in China Mobile’s test, ZTE Cloud UniCore achieved the deployment of dynamic network elements, flexible capacity scaling and the cloud-based management of virtual core network deployments. Cloud UniCore helps operators deal with complicated and changeable network operations, according to Current Analysis.

The Cloud UniCore solution achieves virtual operation of EPC/IMS core network equipment. According to the changing state of network load capacity, Cloud UniCore uses virtualized platform technology to achieve elastic configuration and flexible operation of future network equipment, fully meeting the operation requirement of 4G big-data convergence network age. Cloud UniCore includes two core technologies: Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Network (SDN). By decoupling software and hardware, Cloud UniCore helps operators manage network capacity and deploy services elastically and flexibly.

ZTE’s tests with China Mobile on virtualized cloud deployments and VoLTE services at the MWC was one of the highlights of this year’s conference. ZTE will actively promote the Cloud UniCore solution to customers this year to help them optimize their 4G networks.
