Company Looks Forward to Next 15 Years and is Well Positioned to Continue Growth

April 29, 2013, Richardson, TX – ZTE USA celebrates its 15th Anniversary in the U.S. market.  As the No. 5 handset vendor in the U.S. market, the company’s success is the result of its history of being the accelerator that places great communications technology into the hands of end users.

“We are very excited to celebrate this anniversary together with the carriers and partners in the U.S. We will continue to work together with the whole telecommunication ecosystem to move people onto and up the latest and greatest technology, so they can connect, be entertained and enrich their lives,” said Lixin Cheng, CEO, ZTE USA, and Senior Vice President of ZTE Corporation.

ZTE USA entered the U.S. market in 1998 with modest expectations. Today, the company works with all of the major U.S. carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-mobile, MetroPCS, US Cellular, Cricket and TracFone. ZTE USA has become one of the leading companies in the rapidly growing pre-paid market. The company currently is No.3 in the number of pre-paid phones sold.

Lixin said, "ZTE's track record demonstrates our value to the carriers, enterprises and consumers in this strategic market. We are very confident about our future in the U.S. and we eagerly look forward to the next 15 years. We are committed to the US and will continue to enhance the investment in the US."

In December 2012, ZTE announced a $30 million investment to work with a number of local partners to tap into both core and innovative technologies in the telecommunications industry, improving and integrating existing technologies, and strengthening the lab capabilities and other fundamental infrastructures. Also, ZTE set up an independent sales group for North America market in January 2013. Accordingly, Lixin Cheng, the previous president of ZTE N.A. region, was promoted as the senior vice president of ZTE Corporation, which would enhance the local decision power and bring more resources to the U.S. market.

ZTE’s growth can be attributed to our unique business model, which is referred as America China Worldwide or ACW. It allows ZTE to partner with American companies such as Qualcomm, Broadcom, Intel, Freescale, Google and Microsoft and leverage their innovation. ZTE USA supports the innovation by utilizing the efficient design and engineering resources in China to quickly bring these ideas to market. ZTE sells products worldwide, which creates economies of scale and allows more people to access leading technologies. This benefits America high-tech companies as well. Up to now, ZTE has purchased more than $16 billion in the U.S. market in both products and intellectual property from U.S. partners.

"We position ourselves as the industry's harmonious contributor. We don't focus on any vendors but make efforts to provide a better user experience," said Lixin. “Also, to be a good corporate citizenship, giving back to the communities in which we live and work is very important to us and speaks to ZTE’s mission to help people around the world connect with one another in meaningful ways.”

Recently ZTE has been ranked by Fortune as one of the Top 10 Corporate Social Responsibility Chinese companies. This is the second consecutive year that ZTE has been named as one of China’s Top 10 CSR performers.  On March 28, ZTE USA hosted a charity night in partnership with the Texas Legends in order to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Collin County.

As an independent, transparent, globally focused publicly traded company, ZTE understands that cyber security is the challenge facing by the whole industry and has proposed the Trusted Delivery Model to reduce the security risk, which is a comprehensive end-to-end security evaluation of the software, firmware and hardware throughout the equipment life cycle. ZTE will continue working with the U.S. government and industry to establish a system that will ensure full cyber security for all parties, which is also our commitment to carriers, enterprise partners and end users.
