11 October 2012, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment, network solutions and mobile devices, today announced it has won a global system for mobile communications railway (GSM-R) contract with Russian Railways.
GSM-R is an international wireless communications standard for railway communication and scheduling. The contract, valued at over $100 million, provides total solutions including Scheduling System, Intelligent Network, Interception & Recording, Transmission, Power, and Terminals for railway lines from Saint Petersburg to Bulovskaya. As one of the world's largest GSM and GSM-R equipment providers, ZTE's new generation SDR-based GSM-R products have passed European Integrated Railway Radio Enhanced Network (EIRENE) specifications and received a certificate from TüV Rheinland, a global technical, safety and certification service provider.
