24 July 2012, London, UK – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, has announced that its chief intellectual property officer Mr. Wang Haibo has been listed as one of the Global Telecoms Business “40 executives under 40 Young Leaders”.

Global Telecoms Business first produced its 40 executives under 40 Young Leaders awards in 2009 from submissions made by readers. All nominees must have been born on or after 1 July, 1972.

The 40 under 40 Young Leaders will attend this year’s GTB 40 under 40 Summit in London on 24-25 September. The event allows invitees to network and take part in a series of presentations and panel sessions to discuss key telecoms industry issues.

“I am very honoured to have been selected as one of the 40 young leaders in the telecoms space,” said Wang Haibo. “The list comprises some of the most influential young people in the industry and it’s great to be selected alongside them. I look forward to the event in September and to discussing industry issues that are currently affecting telecommunications, In this industry, technology patents are especially important and I look forward to bringing this discussion to the forefront at the upcoming event.”

In 2011, ZTE ranked No.1 among global companies in terms of PCT patent filings according to the World Intellectual Property Organization, with a total of 2,826 applications,.

The company moved up from the No. 2 spot, which it held in 2010. The statistics also show consistent growth in ZTE’s international patent filings over the past five years, which increased by more than 50 per cent year-on-year in 2011.

According to ZTE, more than 60 per cent of its PCT filings in 2011 were related to LTE/3G, cloud computing and machine to machine communications. To date, ZTE’s total international patent portfolio, including pending applications, is over 10,000.

Wang Haibo has been awarded many accolades over the years including being names as one of China's National IPR Experts Pool, China's Most Influential IPR Persons 2011, and China Guangdong Province's Most Influential Persons on Intellectual Property Protection 2011.

 

He is also an arbitrator of the Guangzhou Arbitration Commission, vice chairman of the board of the Guangzhou IP Arbitration Court, vice executive president of the Shenzhen Patent Association, a member of the Shenzhen Judicial Expertise Expert Committee, the mediation expert of the South China branch of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, and a member of the Government IP Expert Commission in Chengdu.
