14 November 2011, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions announced today that its ZXR10 T8000 was evaluated by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), successfully passing several tests, including MEF9 and MEF14 standard networking tests.

The routers tested utilize ZTE-developed forwarding, switching and interface chips, which ensure packet data reception rates and efficient router forwarding and switching. When multiple overlapping services are employed, the routers are capable of outstanding long-term reliable performance.

The MEF international functionality and performance certification tests covered EPL, EVPL and ELAN functions. ZTE’s high-end router products passed the MEF9 and MEF14 tests for Ethernet service functionality and performance, illustrating their competitiveness, compliance with MEF global carrier Ethernet specifications and the company’s ability to provide standardized products and services to operators.

The T8000 platform, which went to market in 2009, is one of the core achievements of the ZTE technology innovation strategy and was created with the aim of meeting the requirements of core nodes of the Internet and operators’ requirements for backbone and metro networks. The platform also assists operators in building flat networks and achieving smooth long-term evolution of unified bearer networks.

"ZTE is dedicated to providing a stable, high-speed and reliable data communications experience to operators and users, and will continue investing in the data communications field," said ZTE Bearer Network Product Line General Manager Fan Xiaobing. “Our entire line of 100G chips has now passed the industry’s strictest tests. This is indicative of our competitive edge and commitment to innovation.”

The non-profit MEF has 175 members, including international telecommunications operators, telecommunications equipment and software providers, semi-conductor equipment manufacturers and international testing organizations.

According to the OVUM report, Market Share Spreadsheet 1Q11 SP Switching & Routing EMEA and AP, ZTE’s data communications products ranked third in China with a market share of 16.3 per cent and have risen to the fourth spot in Middle East and Africa with a market share of 8.1 per cent in 2010. As of the end of first half 2011, ZTE’s products based on the T8000 platform have been put into commercial use in China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, Asia-Pacific, Southeast Asia, Middle East and Africa, with the total shipment volume of several thousand.
