ZTE continues to demonstrate leadership in DPoE specifications and product development

 

RICHARDSON, Texas – September 27, 2011 - ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced the completion of the third interoperability test (IOT) event for Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS®) Provisioning of Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON), or DPoE™ technology. Cable Television Laboratories (CableLabs®), a non-profit research and development consortium, supervised the IOT, which demonstrated the technical feasibility of using DPoE technology in a multi-vendor environment.

 

Thetests included registration, provisioning and operations support system interface (OSSI), and verified interoperability between a large selection of devices from multiple vendors, including DPoE ONUand DPoE System solution platforms and chipsets. The completion of the third iteration of the IOT further substantiates the maturity of both the specification and the technology behind the DPoE specifications, which strengthens ZTE’s ability to bring advanced DOCSIS network provisioning solutions and field-proven EPON together to address business service requirements of multiple system operator (MSO) customers. DPoE technology is a natural choice for cable operators looking for long-term optical access solutions.DPoE networks provide high bandwidth, reliability, cost-efficiency and a natural migration path from 1G-EPON to 10G-EPON, and have a well-established industrial supply chain for EPON.

Together with the latest tests, ZTE’s completion of the first and second IOTs reinforces the company’s commitment to the interoperability of the ZTE DPoE System platform ZXA10 C300 and DPoE ONU series with other DPoE equipment suppliers and vendors of demarcation devices, as well as typical configurations of DOCSIS back-office systems. The Metro Ethernet-certified ZXA10 C300 OLT platform is currently shipping to major cable MSOs in North America, providing advanced services such as mobile backhaul for cell sites as well as Metro Ethernet and VPN services for commercial customers. ZTE continues to collaborate closely with CableLabs and its member MSOs to further develop industry specifications for DPoE technology, bringing the best of the Ethernet, PON and DOCSIS technical worlds together.
