3 June 2011, Shenzhen – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced that the company has been named the number two global supplier in the IP/Ethernet market by telecoms consulting firm Ovum.

In the fourth quarter of 2010, ZTE secured the largest share in the Asia Pacific region.

The global service provider switching and routing market hit a record high of US$3.83 billion in Q4 2010, according to Ovum, up 15 per cent from the previous quarter and 22 per cent higher than the corresponding quarter of 2009.

ZTE's revenue in 4Q10 rose 68% compared with the third quarter, posting the highest quarterly growth rate among all competing vendors in this space, according to the report, Market Share: 4Q10 and 2010 SP Switching and Routing.

Some of the key issues driving higher investment in network infrastructure are the ongoing integration of fixed and mobile services combined with the rapid development of user access via smartphones and tablets.

The prolific uptake of mobile broadband services has also resulted in increasing demand for improved security, a lower total cost of ownership and greater energy-saving and emission-reduction control.

The landscape of Ethernet switch equipment providers is constantly changing. Some of the older, established vendors are struggling to compete in the marketplace on a global basis. Some vendors are bought out while other suppliers are unable to cope with the increasing requirements of modern service providers.

"With over 10 years of accumulation and experience in product research and development, patent standards, and market application, ZTE Ethernet switches follow the philosophy of ‘customer oriented and active in innovation," says Mr. Fan Xiaobing, General Manager of ZTE Bearer Network Products. “ZTE has a proud heritage of returning a minimum of 10 per cent of its operating revenue back into research and development, and is regularly named as one of the world’s most prolific patent producers.”

With the ZXR10 8900E series core switches and ZXR10 2900E series easy-maintenance secure switches being put into commercial use in 2010, the ZTE Ethernet switch family has completed its upgrade. The new generation of E series flagship products including ZXR10 8900E, ZXR10 5900E, ZXR10 3900E and ZXR10 2900E have a competitive advantage due to their easy maintenance, robust security, smooth evolution, eco-friendliness and low total cost of ownership (TCO).
