Orlando, FL - March 24, 2011 - ZTE Corporation, a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced that it has received the 2011 Emerging Technology Awards from the CTIA at the International CTIA Wireless® tradeshow in Orlando. Awarded the prize for in-building wireless infrastructure innovation, ZTE demonstrated strong innovation capabilities and industry leadership.

 

Held by CTIA,the most authoritative telecommunication organization in North America, the 2011 Emerging Technology Awards attracted many operators as well as application, device and infrastructure vendorsglobally. The 2011 Emerging Technology Awards were launched and organized by CTIA, with expert reviewers coming from industry experts, professional analysts and media. The awards are used to honor organizations with great contributions in different fields of the telecommunication industry.

 

The ZTE Gecko, the world's first CDMA super-mini multi-carrier Base Transceiver Station (BTS), won the in-building wireless infrastructure award for its tradition-surpassing architecture and application mode, which can satisfy operators' requirements of network construction in blind and hotspot areas, help the operators to acquire more subscribers and speed-up network construction, thus enhancing the profitability of mobile broadband networks.

2010 Global CDMA Market and Prospects research note by IDC showed that as of Q2 2010, ZTE had shipped accumulative total over 270,000 base stations, and had been ranked first on global CDMA market with a global market share of 30.3 percent.
