20 January 2011, ShenzhenZTE Corporation, (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced that it has been ranked third in the global optical networking (ON) industry, which is its highest rank ever, according to the latest research by industry analyst firm Ovum. The company posted strong gains in 3Q10 amidst a stagnant global ON market, and bumped Ciena out of the number three spot.

According to Ovum's report entitled "Market Share: 3Q10 optical networks, global and regional", single quarter global revenues saw a 5% overall increase worldwide from Q2 to Q3 of 2010 and rolling 4-quarter revenues of $14.2bn stayed even with the previous period halting a seven-quarter slide. "ZTE has been the top performer over the last four quarters, gaining 1.8 market share points over the period, catapulting the company into third place," said Ron Kline, Principal Analyst at Ovum and author of the report. "ZTE is seeing strong growth in mobile backhaul applications and backbone DWDM, particularly in its home market of China.

Mr. Fan Xiaobing, GM of ZTE bearer network product line said: "In 2010, ZTE's bearer network products took a great stride forward to achieve almost 40% uplift in revenue growth. These achievements result from the progress we have made in our products, technologies, solutions, and network services. In 2011, ZTE will aim to establish itself as the trustworthy partner through which global operators will achieve greater growth."

ZTE's bearer network product line performed admirably in the three years since it was established and in 2010, the product line took first place for market share growth. ZTE's wave-division (WDM) products also kept up a steady increase in the European markets, while at the same time making great breakthroughs to high-end carriers in Germany, Italy, and Portugal.
