26th October, 2010 - Shenzhen – ZTE Corporation, (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, todayannounced that it has emerged top in a series of KPI tests organized by China Unicom, operator of the world's largest UMTS network. The tests measured the performance of 56 cities' networks in China.

The results were revealed at the two-day Mobile Network Optimization Work Conference hosted by China Unicom in Dalian on October 21st and 22nd 2010, which shared that Chinese vendors remained on top of the KPI rankings. While the network performance of each participant had improved greatly, ZTE maintained its top billing in the list of global vendors. This status closely follows ZTE's No. 1 ranking in the 77-city third-party KPI test in September and in the 55 cities KPI test in March 2010.

The network deployment by ZTE in Qinghuangdao city was singled out for having the highest compound score amongst all cities, whilst SanYa (by Ericsson) and Baoding (by ALU) were also noted to have impressive performance. Shenzhen, one of China's top five Metropolises was also revealed to have a very high compound score.

The network KPI tests were initiated by China Unicom who was concerned about network quality after it commenced deployment of the largest UMTS network in the world and in China last year. With a tremendous surge in mobile 3G subscribers triggered by the increasing popularity of smart phones, China Unicom had gained more than 10 million 3G subscribers within the year by September 2010. The company therefore had to be sure that it could continue providing a high standard of service to its subscriber base.

ZTE's outstanding performance in China Unicom's UMTS network tests demonstrated that the company is still leading the league of first-class vendors. As one of the most trustworthy supplier partners, ZTE is continuing to strengthen its market position through successful deployment of its high performance UMTS networks.
