CDMA Development Group Recognizes ZTE and China Telecom with 2010 Smart Wireless Award

6 October 2010, Shenzhen – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced that it has received the 2010 Smart Wireless Award for Services from the CDMA Development Group (CDG) at the industry association's Smart Wireless Workshop. A prestigious award in M2M service innovation, ZTE and China Telecom Shanghai Branch contributed to the CDMA industry application and the M2M application as part of the Shanghai World Expo.

 

The Smart Wireless Workshop brought together feature CDMA operators, MVNOs, application/middleware, device and module vendorsexploringthe business case and implementation tools necessary for companies to succeed in delivering smart wireless services across a number of vertical markets including: tele-medicine, smart grid/energy, telematics and consumer electronics. This is the inaugural year of the Smart Wireless Awards, organized by CDG with expert reviewers coming from CDG senior members, trade associations, and business media. The awards honor organizations with innovative contributions in service innovation and solution applications utilizing CDMA2000® networks.

 

ZTE received the Services award for its Shanghai World Expo Wireless Vehicle Monitoring Management System, an M2M application jointly developed by ZTE and China Telecom's Shanghai Branch. Applied in March 2010, the system includes end-to-end solutions such as the M2M service management platform, Video Surveillance System, vehicle monitoring terminal, vehicle management and dispatching system. Via the high-speed CDMA2000 EV-DO Rev. A network, it provides high-quality services including vehicle real-time video view, vehicle internal security remote detection, vehicle operating status detection and real-time report, vehicle real-time GPS positioning, dispatching and more. While promoting China Telecom's CDMA application services the system also solves Shanghai's problems in vehicle management.

According to IDC's 2010 Global CDMA Market and Prospects research note, up to Q1 of 2010, ZTE's accumulated shipment volume of CDMA base stations has is over 250,000. ZTE ranks the first in global CDMA market with the market share of 30.3 %.
