20 September 2010, Shenzhen – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today unveiled its revolutionary element management system (EMS) NetNumenTM U31, which is the industry's first solution designed to manage both fixed and mobile network equipments in a centralized and highly efficient manner.

To allow carriers to cope with the modern challenges of managing multi-technology networks while keeping pace with the evolution of full-service operations, NetNumenTM U31 is designed to provide end-to-end capability for high O&M efficiency. The system can well integrate the management of current industry-level platforms, including 2/3/4G RAN, MSAN and xPON, datacom/microwave/optical transmission, CS/PS/IMS CN, VAS, and IT devices, for a complete convergence of fixed, mobile and IT networks.

A breakthrough in the world's telecom industry, NetNumenTM U31's design is based on a multi-technology management and unified data model, and leverages on ZTE's in-depth understanding of O&M requirements and network development trends as well as experience with the wireline, wireless, service and terminals markets. Its management capability spans multiple network layers, namely access layer, bearer layer, control layer, and application layer, which allows the solution to be deployed across different O&M scenarios.

The user-centered design of NetNumenTM U31 demonstrates the fulfillment of AAAA requirements that carriers are mostly concerned about in their daily O&M responsibilities. Here, AAAA refers to Any One, Any Time, Any Terminal, and Any Where:

  • Any One:  scenario-based customization to meet individual demands of a carrier;
  • Any Time: provides mature high availability and disaster recovery solution to maintain 24/7 continuous operations, and improve recovery point objective (RPO) and recovery time objective (RTO);
  • Any Terminal: diversified access methods, such as GUI, WEB, and MML, and a variety of terminals;
  • Any Where: secure networking and physical isolation to ensure network security.

"Multi-technology convergence and full-service operation are posing tough challenges for carriers, and with the rapid development of telecom technologies, they are looking for solutions to help them streamline their current operations," said Chen Jian, Lead of ZTE Network Management Product Department.

"NetNumenTM U31 is an EMS system with powerful functionalities and excellent security control over O&M operations. It is the best choice for carriers who are looking for a system to implement multi-technology/network management, as it can bring them with considerable benefits such as improved maintenance efficiency, reduced maintenance cost, and lowered TCO."

NetNumenTM U31 employs ZTE's unique PPU component technology which allows carriers to determine the EMS functions integrated into the EMS. This feature enables ZTE to deliver an EMS that meets individual business needs of a carrier. Moreover, carriers can find an appropriate deployment solution from a variety of candidates for their existing networks, which helps to drive up ROI and cuts down on CAPEX.

ZTE is committed to providing customers with high-quality telecom equipments and solutions. It offers customizable ZTE NetNumenTM O&M solutions and services to meet individual needs of carriers. Currently, NetNumenTM series have been deployed in over 140 countries or areas worldwide and have served more than 500 carriers.
