Network infrastructure project to cover the whole of Indonesia with over 25 million lines

28 June 2010, Shenzhen, China– ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), today announced that it has signed an exclusive contract with Smart Telecom, one of Indonesia's largest CDMA operators, to supply key network infrastructure equipment for the operator to deploy a country-wide network framework. This marks a deepening of the relationship between both companies following their strategic collaboration to build the world’s first commercial EV-DO Rev.B network in Bali on January 10, 2010.

Under the agreement, ZTE will deliver approximately 6,000 base stations to Smart Telecom to cover the whole of Indonesia, with a total system capacity of over 25 million lines. The infrastructure project includes the deployment of ZTE's wireless solutions, transmission and core network products, business platform systems, power supplies and other equipment.

In 2006, ZTE was appointed the exclusive vendor by Smart Telecom to deploy a superior CDMA network to cover the entire country of Indonesia. In the process of selecting a vendor to deliver better network solution and considering ZTE's consistent track recordand outstanding performance, Smart Telecom decided to join forces with ZTE again.

"We are very glad to choose ZTE as the exclusive vendor for our network infrastructure project again. In the past four years of strategic cooperation between us, ZTE's  total solutions has greatly reduced our operating cost. ZTE's fast network building capacity had enabled us to fast provide customers with various services. Upon completion, the network will greatly improve Smart Telecom's extensive coverage of Indonesia as well as service capacity and quality. It will also optimally reduce Smart Telecom’s investment and allow a fast and smooth transition to a future LTE deployment." said Richard Tan, Deputy CEO of Smart Telecom.

"We are very grateful for Smart Telecom's trust in ZTE. In the past four years, ZTE has maintained a good strategic partnership with Smart Telecom. We will continue our in-depth cooperation with Smart Telecom as before, and believe that our company can join hands with Smart Telecom to build the best CDMA network in Indonesia in a short time," said Cui Yi, President of ZTEAsiaPacific.

As the leading innovator in CDMA technologies, ZTE was firmly on top of the world's CDMA shipment list for four consecutive years from 2006 to 2009. ZTE was the only winner of Frost & Sullivan's  World's Best CDMA Equipment Vendor for 2009. It was also the first Chinese enterprise to win from CDG the highest award in global CDMA technological innovation for 2008.

By the first quarter of 2010, ZTE's CDMA products had been in large-scale commercial deployment by over 120 operators in more than 70 countries, with an accumulated wireless capacity of 250 million lines. In addition, ZTE has cooperated with operators worldwide to deploy five commercial LTE networks and over 40 experimental networks across Europe, North America, AsiaPacific and the Middle East, and actively pushed forward the commercial application of LTE technology.
