21September 2009, Shenzhen, China ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, has been selected by Promonte, part of the Telenor Group, as the sole vendor and service partner for its mobile network modernization and expansion project.

The agreement involves a complete swap and upgrade of Promonte’s existing 2G and 3G Radio and Core network and its Transmission network in Montenegro and runs over a period of five years. Under the agreement ZTE will provide Promonte a truly future-proof mobile network supporting GSM, UMTS, HSPA+ and LTE, in addition to new service enabling systems including IMS. ZTE will also provide corresponding implementation, operation and support services during the contract period.

The radio network will be based on ZTE’s award-winning SDR (Software Define Radio) RRU/BBU platform. This platform ensures a smooth and seamless upgrade path from GSM and UMTS towards HSPA+ and LTE, while maintaining high quality for existing services and users. It has already been successfully deployed and commercially launched in a number of markets.

“This agreement with Promonte is a great milestone for ZTE in the European market, and we are proud to have been selected to provide them a truly future-proof mobile network,” said Kenneth Fredriksen, GM of ZTE’s Telenor Global Business Unit. “ZTE will provide Promonte the products and tools to deliver the best quality network and most innovative services in the market, which should allow them to secure a leading position in Montenegro.”

“We are very happy to establish this new partnership with ZTE and together build a future proof network which will benefit both Promonte’s customers and the environment.” said Christopher Laska, Promonte CEO.
