27 August 2009, Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation (“ZTE” or the “Group”) (A share stock code: 000063.SZ /H share stock code: 0763.HK), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced the formal launch of its new generation IPTN bearer network solution targeting mobile backhaul and multi-service delivery to meet the needs of IP-based services. It features packet kernel, enables multi-service delivery, and provides customers with mobile backhaul and FMC E2E solutions. It also allows customers to cut network construction, operation and maintenance cost, help carriers implement smooth network evolution, and fully addresses carriers’ current and future requirements for network transmission.

On basis of customer requirements and service development, ZTE’s IPTN solution, and the PTN product series under its flag, accommodate the development trend of three “C”:

1.    Convergence: ZTE’s PTN products leverage the advantages of router, switch and SDH to unify and converge a variety of legacy and emerging services, as well as fixed-line and mobile services.

2.    CAPEX: ZTE’s new generation IPTN bearer network solution reflects carriers’ requirement for energy saving and consumption reduction in system design. With a green design philosophy, the equipment power consumption is just 1/3 of that of industry’s average levels, resulting in lowered CAPEX and OPEX for carriers.

3.    Clock synchronization: ZTE’s IPTN solution offers the industry-leading packet clock synchronization function. It delivers the precision clock protocol solution based on synchronous Ethernet, performs automatic protection switching of time link, ensures reliable time transfer, enables substitution of GPS, and gives strong support for IPTN solutions in building the carrier-class outstanding network

“We are focused on delivering the best IPTN bearer network solutions for operators, and our new product, based on the ‘three Cs’, has been designed to drive high product satisfaction amongst our customers,” said Mr. Han Ling, Vice President of ZTE bearer network product line. “ZTE’s IPTN solution features carrier-class OAM, perfect protection, E2E QoS and excellent synchronization performance to gain carrier trust and preference.”

PTN series products under the ZTE IPTN solution include: ZXCTN 6100, ZXCTN 6200, ZXCTN 6300, ZXCTN 9004 and ZXCTN 9008. ZXCTN 6100 is a compact and converged IP transport platform. As the industry’s most compact commercialized access layer PTN product, it is box equipment with 1U in height, which is easy to install and adapts to the base station access environment. ZXCTN 6200, the industry’s most compact commercialized 10GE PTN equipment, is only 3U high. Its small size and high level of integration address the requirement for integrated service delivery. ZXCTN 9008 provides the largest PTN product switching capacity in the industry. Its switching capacity reaches bidirectional 1.6T, plus the robust routing capability, fully accommodating the requirement for agile scheduling of core layer mobile and fixed-line services under all-service operation.

Backing on in-depth understanding of PTN technology, thorough heavy R&D investment and rich network construction experience, ZTE has achieved outstanding performance for its PTN products and IPTN solutions in multiple tests conducted at home and abroad, according to a report from established consulting company OVUM. ZTE is uniquely capable of providing E2E 1588v2 time transfer and leads other vendors in offering the lowest test power consumption and the most stable performance. ZTE has been selected exclusively to build PTN commercial trials in various cities in China. It’s IPTN solution outperformed others in terms of OAM, protection and time synchronization, according to the OVUM report.
