The Company’s Bearer Network Equipment ZXONE 5800 Achieves Exceptional Test Performance

29 July 2009, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced that its ZXONE 5800 bearer network equipment has demonstrated interoperabilityin the recently concluded 4th Automatically Switched Optical Network (ASON) Interoperability Test. The test event was organized by OIF (Optical Internetworking Forum) and conducted at Verizon’s and China Telecom’s laboratories, in U.S. and China respectively. The OIF test this time verifies ZTE’s capabilities of offering worldwide interoperability products and end-to-end seamless services.

The ASON test, under the theme “enabling broadband bandwidth on-demand services,” demonstrates end-to-end provisioning of dynamically switched Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) services through the use of optical networking equipments in compliance with OIF UNI 2.0 and E-NNI 2.0 interface specifications, as well as multi-domain restoration of ASON call, MPLS-TP, PBB-TE and OTN technologies. ZTE’s ZXONE 5800 was integral to various tests including EVPLS over SONET/SDH and multi-domain restoration of call. The test results of ZTE’s ZXONE 5800have been recently showcased at iPOP Forum and IIR Telecoms WDM & Next Generation Optical Networking event, and will be showcased at ECOC and SupperComm in the second-half of 2009.

ZXONE 5800 is ZTE’s new generationbandwidth management system with large-capacity convergence and intelligence. It offers robust service grooming and provisioning capability, with access capability of a single sub-rack reaching 1.28T. ZXONE 5800 integrates diversified technologies, such as SDH, OTH and WDM,in an open architecture, addressing the market need for core layer network convergence and helping operators evolve from 2G/3G/fixed-line to LTE/FMC. Its cutting-edge MEMS management system and multifunctional board allow operators to build green ultra wideband core transport network with flatness, agility, low cost, power-saving and eco-friendly features.

Founded in April 1998, the OIF is one of the major international standard organizations specializing in setting up standardization on intelligent optical networking specifications, uniting members from the world’s leading carriers, system vendors and component manufacturers. OIF promotes the development and deployment of interoperable networking solutions through the creation of Implementation Agreements (IAs) for optical, interconnect, network processing and intelligent optical networking interfaces.
