ZTE Signs Cooperation Agreement with WILLCOM to Provide 3G Data Cards to Japan Market

21 July2009, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutionstoday announced that it has signed a cooperation agreement with WILLCOM, the fourth largest mobile operator in Japan. Under the agreement, ZTE has partnered with WILLCOM to supply its 3G Data Card MF633 (WILLCOM’s model is HX003ZT) to the Japan market, bringing high-speed Internet users access to rich 3G network applications.

Since making its debut in the Japan market in 2008, ZTE’s 3G Data Card products have been adopted by JCI.ZTE’s partnership with WILLCOM marks another significant business expansion into a high-end overseas market. As a top four mobile operator, and the largest Personal Handy-phone System (PHS) operatorin Japan, WILLCOM has 4.6 million users and commands great influence in the local market.

In early 2009, WILLCOM and ZTE signed a Memorandum of Cooperation forTime Division Duplex (TDD) technologies, including XGP with the aim to work closely to boost market shares in the industry.

ZTE is the world’s second largest and fastest growing supplier in the data card industry. Up to 2008, the company had sold over 10 million data card products, representing a 426% increase year-on-year between 2007 and 2008.

ZTE’s MF633 Data Card carries Windows XP, Vista and MAC OS platforms and supports HSPA/ UMTS and EDGE/ GPRS/ GSM network technologies. It achieves an uplink rate of 5.76Mbps and a downlink rate of 7.2Mbps, allowing end-users to experience fast Internet access to enjoy the rich applications of 3G networks.
