Recently, ZTE and INDOSAT signed a USD 47.6 million contract for its CDMA program. This indicates ZTE CDMA products have scored substantial breakthroughs in the markets of Indonesia & Southeast Asia on a large scale.

Under the contract, ZTE will provide cdma1x equipment and relevant network services in its local CDMA network construction to INDOSAT in Jakarta and Surabaya, which are the first and second largest cities in Indonesia, respectively. The whole network solution will include implementations for both voice and data services, including equipment provision, network design, project survey, network layout, engineering installation and maintenance. The network will provide smooth migration to 3G, providing more high-speed data applications, and allow operators to implement more value-added services on such network platform.

In the early second half of 2003, ZTE successfully set up a CDMA field trial for INDOSAT, which demonstrated the extensive commercial experience by ZTE and its CDMA products. INDOSAT was completely satisfied with the outcome of the field trial, which enabled ZTE to finally win the bid.
