ZTE Corporation of China, a leading global supplier of advanced telecommunications infrastructure, has made its first breakthrough in the Hungarian market.

INVITEL, Hungary´s second largest fixed-line operator, has contracted ZTE to provide advanced ADSL modems for a network that is lowering the cost of broadband services for users.

The contract win comes less than a month after ZTE´s success in Athens where it delivered one of the most advanced ADSL networks in the world for the Olympic Games. Its network covered 16 major centres at the Games, including the main venue, international broadcasting centre, the news centre and the press village, which were all able to access broadband Internet services throughout the event.

"We are very proud to be supplying equipment to INVITEL," said, Mr. Jijun Wang, chief representative for ZTE in Hungary. "This success, coming so soon after our triumph at the Olympic Games, confirms ZTE´s commitment to the European market.  With these projects, ZTE is showing that it can offer high quality and reliable solutions wherever they are needed."

Under the contract, ZTE will become a long-term supplier to INVITEL.  5,000 of ZTE´s ZXDSL 831A modems have already been delivered to service subscribers in nine of Hungary´s provinces.  The advanced network is providing fixed-line voice service, dial-up, ISDN and ADSL Internet services.

ZTE began R&D in broadband access products in 1997. It was one of the earliest developers of China´s ADSL, VDSL, SHDSL, ADSL2+ standards. To date, ZTE has deployed over 10 million ports of DSL products in over 10 countries, including China, Greece, India, Philippines, Hong Kong, Ukraine, Indonesia and Pakistan. New developments see ZTE focus on constructing a win-win DSL value chain with operators and end-users.
