ZTE Corporation, a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced an agreement to provide InternetGhana, the largest Internet service provider in Ghana, with the equipment to develop a high-speed broadband network.

Under the terms of the contract ZTE will provide broadband equipment including DSLAM terminals, Power Supply and DSL modems. The agreement follows a Memorandum of Understanding agreed between the two parties in December 2005.

InternetGhana, as the dominant player in Ghana´s ISP market, expects to significantly advance its product offerings and service quality levels in addition to ambitious plans to expand further into West Africa.

"We are pioneering high speed broadband in Ghana to meet growing customer demand for state-of-the-art communications.  We hope to extend our reach beyond Ghana into West Africa as we continue to work with ZTE to further enhance and expand our network," said Mr. Leslie Tamakloe, Chief Executive Officer of InternetGhana, at the contract signing ceremony.

"High-speed communication is a key driver for the growth both of national economies and personal opportunities.  ZTE is proud to work alongside InternetGhana to evolve their network," said Mr. Zhang Peng, General Director of ZTE in Middle and West Africa.

ZTE increased international sales by nearly 70% in 2005 due in large part to investment in R&D, which has been maintained at a level of 10 per cent of annual turnover.  With continuing success in the African and Asian markets, ZTE expects to replicate these achievements into more developed telecoms markets such as Europe and North America in the future.
