New contract win strengthens ZTE´s European market position

ZTE Corporation, the fastest growing global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, has been chosen by Actel Limited, the new triple play services provider, to install its Softswitch-based NGN network in Hungary.

The new national network, which incorporates ZTE´s Fixed-line 3G@NGN solutions, will be mainly based upon ZTE´s Softswitch system ZXSS10, Media Gateway ZXMSG, broadband IN system ZXUP10 and IP terminals for provisioning a range of high-quality services including VoIP and data services to homes and enterprises across Hungary. It is due be in operation by March 2006. "Hungary is one of Europe´s strategically competitive markets for telecoms vendors," said Mr Alistair Tang Yong, the Chief Representative of ZTE Hungary. "Having been through a period of close competition with a number of multi-national telecom vendors and a series of stringent interoperability tests, we have increased our momentum in the local and European NGN markets with this win." "ZTE has been critical to our ability to bring newly-emerging intelligent services to Hungary," said Actel´s CEO Mr. Pal Horvath. "The NGN network, based on ZTE´s Fixed-line 3G@NGN solutions, will also enable us to develop the advanced IP services due to the availability of the Application Server in the service creation layer of the NGN system." ZTE´s Fixed-line 3G@NGN solutions harness the strength of ZTE´s own patented technologies. Forming a diverse portfolio of migration approaches to next generation networks, the company´s NGN solutions give operators the possibility to select the best-fit option for scalable network development.

To date, ZTE has notched up a series of global NGN wins. In early 2006, ZTE announced to provide China Telecom, the country´s largest fixed-line operator, with its largest metropolitan intelligent fixed-line NGN network. In December 2005, Emcali, one of Colombia´s four major fixed-line operators, chose ZTE to provide the infrastructure for its upgraded Softswitch-based Next Generation Network. In July 2005, ZTE was chosen to build Central Asia´s first commercial NGN network following an agreement with Tajikistan´s major fixed line operator, Tajiktelecom.
