New network consolidates ZTE´s success in the African market

ZTE Corporation, the fastest growing global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced that it will install a national optical transmission network in Morocco for the Office National de l´Electricité(ONE). Having already broadly deployed its range of technologies in emerging markets, this latest contract win highlights ZTE´s growing momentum and success across the African continent.

In a move to upgrade the country´s telecommunications infrastructure, the Office National de l´Electricité aims to cover almost all of Morocco´s major cities with the new high bandwidth network. Based around ZTE´s latest MSTP (multi-service transmission platform) product - the ZXMP S385 - the network will integrate multiple functions within a single system to enable easy access to a host of voice, data and video services.

ONE chose ZTE because of its positive experience of working with ZTE in the past and because ZTE offered a powerful, single solution that addressed all the requirements for upgrading their current network infrastructure.

"The deployment of our carrier-class optical transmission technology goes a long way to alleviating the bottleneck in the existing network and will greatly improve the network´s reliability, helping the operator to provide the scalability and flexibility that end-users the world over have come to expect," explained Mr. Han Ling, VP of ZTE optical transmission marketing. "We are pleased to be working with ONE again to help Morocco meet the challenge of 21st century communications."

This is ZTE´s latest contract win in a string of recent optical transmission successes worldwide. During 2005, ZTE announced a number of agreements to supply European operators with equipment including Euroweb International, a leading ISP in Central and Eastern Europe, Cabletel, Bulgaria´s leading fixed-line operator and Neocom, Macedonia´s second largest data communications operator. ZTE also built one of the world´s largest optical transmission networks following an agreement with China Mobile in September 2005.

With a full range of optical transport products, including backbone DWDM equipment, metro DWDM equipment, and SDH/MSTP (Multi-Service Transmission Platform) equipment, ZTE has installed more than 180,000 sets of optical products in over 70 countries and regions around the globe, serving in over 130 operators.
