On the afternoon of April 11, Mr. Hu Jintao, President of P.R.China, visited ZTE Corporation. “In China, the telecom industry has entered a stage of steady development, but there are still many booming telecom markets around the world,” President Hu pointed out. “With their core competitive edge, Chinese telecom manufacturers like ZTE should participate more in the international telecom markets.”Escorted by Hou Weigui, CEO of ZTE, President Hu visited the company’s exhibition hall and production line, while listening attentively to Hou’s report on the latest development of ZTE attentively. According to Mr. Hou, ZTE has realized sales of 11 billion RMB (1.33 billion USD) in 2002, 18% higher than last year. ZTE’s telecom products have entered over 40 countries and regions around the world including Inida, Brazil and Russia. In Pakistan, ZTE has already established a production base. The President congratulated ZTE on these latest developments.President Hu Jintao noted that ZTE has acquired competitive edge from its many years of development on applicable technologies and products with high performance-cost ratio. For the company’s long-term development, ZTE should speed up its globalization strategy. He also said government will provide more support to enterprises like ZTE.
