A polyphonic ringtone system, launched by ZTE less than three years ago, has now attracted more than 50 million subscribers worldwide, furthering the Corporation´s claim to be the leading provider of value added services.

ZTE Corporation (Shenzhen: 000063, Hong Kong: 0763), China´s largest listed telecommunications manufacturer and leading wireless solutions provider, launched its polyphonic ringtone system, MyRing, at the end of 2002, following the huge increase in SMS services and demand for ringtone services.  The system provides another means for operators to increase profit and covers all mobile networks, including GSM, CDMA, PHS, PSTN, as well as 3G and NGN (Next Generation Network).

"ZTE´s ringtone service is just one of the value-added services that we have created to satisfy demand from subscribers," said Ms Chen Jie, VP at ZTE. "The innovative system has huge potential for expansion and has been favored as a powerful revenue generator by many operators."

The system has been deployed by operators around the world: in India the number of subscribers has reached over 400,000, with 9,000 subscribers registering for the service every day; 600,000 people have subscribed in Pakistan; 35,000 in Ghana; and 125,000 in Romania.

ZTE´s MyRing system allows subscribers to customise their ringback tone and enables personalised music or other recordings to be played to different callers.  Subscribers can build up a personal ringtone library, which can be managed through text-messages, the web, or a customer service centre. The system can also be adopted by corporate customers.

Other value-added services from ZTE include intelligent networks, SMS, 3G services, and comprehensive service management platforms.  ZTE has led the way with a number of innovations and milestones, including the world´s largest GSM SMS centre; Asia´s largest SMS gateway; China´s largest CDMA SMS centre; China´s largest ringtone centre; China´s largest local fixed network SMS platform; and the first NGN-based calling centre.
